Accessibility

This accessibility statement applies to www.telemedicinehampshire.nhs.uk. The Telemedicine Service is an NHS service, hosted and partially provided by Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. We are committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability.

We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts
  • zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible so that it can be understood by all.

How accessible is this website?

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:

  • Some of the non-decorative images do not have appropriate text equivalents, while some of the images which serve as links do not have ‘alt text’ or alternative text to describe their purpose
  • you cannot modify the line height or spacing of text
  • some PDF documents are not fully accessible to screen reader software

We are continually seeking out solutions that will bring all areas of the site up to the same level of overall accessibility. In the meantime should you experience any difficulty in accessing this website, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Enforcement procedure

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the ‘accessibility regulations’). Technical information about this website’s accessibility

Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below. (Note: these are the main areas of non-compliance.)

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

  • Some images do not have a text alternative, so people using a screen reader cannot access the information. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.1.1 (non-text content). When we publish new content, we’ll make sure our use of images meets accessibility standards.
  • The visual presentation of text and images of text does not always have a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1. This fails WCAG success criterion 1.4.3 (contrast (minimum). The website also has an accessibility toolbar that allows for all text to be turned to white text on a black background. The toolbar is found in the top right of every page.
  • There’s no way to skip the repeated content in the page header (for example, a ‘skip to main content’ option).
